Data Analyses:
Analyses of data required by No Child Left Behind, the A
Plus Education Reform Act (as amended), or the system (e.g.,
discipline, student attendance, staff turnover, student
achievement) can be conducted based on a system’s specific
request.
Program Evaluation:
Using a planning, monitoring, and appraising model, program
evaluations are designed in collaboration with schools or
school districts focusing on specific goals, objectives,
activities, time lines, personnel assigned, and results.
While the emphasis is on quantitative outcomes, qualitative
measures can also be incorporated. Depending on the
school’s/system’s needs, the evaluation can be conducted as
an internal activity in collaboration with the school/school
system or as a third party external evaluation.
Research:
Research studies—including references to the literature,
research questions, research design, hypotheses, innovative
intervention, monitoring for model fidelity, data
collection, data analyses, and interpretation of
results--can be designed on specific topics. For example, a
research study could be conducted on student achievement
which utilizes cohort analyses (same students over
successive years) with analyses of covariance—the
independent variable might be a curricular innovation (e.g.,
new reading program), the dependent variable would be a
current standardized measure of reading achievement after
the implementation of the innovation, and the covariate
would be the most recent prior standardized measure of
reading achievement prior to the implementation of the
innovation.
